About the Retreat
Paul and his team will share in the task of teaching and guiding. Our expanded yoga shala space allows us to handle all students in different classes, as necessary. The retreat will offer a mix of Asana and Pranayama practice, along with practical workshops on philosophy and integrating yoga into daily life. Our intention is for you to feel uplifted and clear in what to practice by the time you end the retreat.
The first week will place an emphasis on Asana in the workshops, with more on the Philosophy by the second week, apt for an understanding to contemplate closing the old year and opening the new, with both weeks focused on the breath. Keeping things fluid Paul will still entertain questions on all subjects over the different weeks.
In addition, Jack Harrison, the superbly talented Irish folk-to-kirtan musician will be playing a few concerts for us as well as some fun musical-yoga workshops along with savasana musical treats. Jack's music features on our home page.
There will be a Christmas Eve celebration with special gourmet feast and performances and fundraiser for our local charities. On New Year's Eve there will be a special ceremony to acknowledge 2012 and welcome in 2013 as well as a feast and performances. The special ceremony will help you close and heal the past year, setting the energy and intention for the year coming with an impetus to follow through on it. The rest of your time will be a nice break from all the crazy holiday happenings and commercial onslaught. Come and really enjoy a real break from the holidays.
About the Teachers
Paul is a senior teacher of Pranayama, Asana and the meditative art and science of Yoga. He has been a dedicated student since the late 1990s of both Sri O.P.Tiwari, one of the few remaining classical yogis and masters of Pranayama, and the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in ashtanga vinyasa. Both of these great teachers have personally certified Paul in these practices, a unique position as the only one to receive this double honor. Paul continues with Mantra practice from the yoga lineage and meditative approaches, influenced by the Thai Forest tradition. This combination of practice and study through dedication and devotion has helped him gain some understanding of practice and to apply this appropriately in Asana, Pranayama, Mantra recitation and Meditation for the different level of students he has the privilege to share the teaching with. He continues his studies in health, philosophy, anatomy and physiology. Paul is also conducting PhD research on the yoga practices at Emory University in Atlanta, USA. One of his main gifts is to be able to relate the teachings in a very down-to-earth way for the modern seeker. He does not take life or yoga too seriously and as a result the discussions and philosophical sessions are lively and humorous, helping to explain the meaning behind the practices and philosophy.

Special Music Guest Jack Harrison
Jack Harrison is a yoga teacher, singer and folklorist. He has worked and studied in all three of these areas for the last 30 years and has recently begun to blend them together in his Spanda Yoga Music Workshops which include yoga, music and Irish mythology.
He is an experienced Anusara Inspired and Ashtanga Yoga teacher, has a Master's degree in Irish Folklore, is a lecturer in Irish Heritage at University College Galway, and is the designer of exhibitions at the top Heritage Attractions in Ireland.
In January 2007 Jack was invited to Samahita Retreat to record a live album based on merging the yoga music tradition with Irish music and song. The result was the album "Wind Across the Sea". Since then, this music has gone from strength to strength with Jack playing at concerts and workshops all over the world and recently released his new CD "The Enchanted Island." The Daily Schedule
The program begins at 5pm on the first day of the retreat with a group welcome and departure is at 12pm on the last day.

detailed guidance in the Asanas, develop and grow a self-practice from the Ashtanga Yoga series going through in led detail and mysore style

|4 pm||Special workshop covering Asana, Philosophy and Pranayama as well as the selected philosophical or anatomical topic. There will be some discussion and Q&A and some time working on the breath, poses and restorative yoga|

We only have two deluxe one bedroom suites located in our most private building closest to the sea. They have a private bedroom, living room, fully equipped kitchen, generous bathroom and an extra large balcony. Both suites offer a modern open living room with sofa bed, LCD TV, working desk and DVD/ iPod Stereo. They are perfect for a family or couple. The additional rate is a flat rate based on the room and is added on to the total rate package whether a single individual, couple or family.
Our guestrooms are set back just over 50 meters from the water to provide with you with a private community and greater security. A selection of our rooms enjoy this spectacular sea view, while others enjoy the tropical gardens scene.

This is my second time doing detox at Samahita but a different program. I had fluctuation in my energy and emotion this time alot more than last time, but I got through the period as I had support from the detox and Wellness team, including other friends. Staff are very nice and food / juice are well prepared. The environment is very relaxing and suitable for detoxifiying your mind and body. I would definitely recommend everyone to come here for this experience. The team can adjust the program according to the individual which is really nice too. One of the best getaways, everyone should try!

I have been to the world famous Ashram in California to shape up, then proceeded to learn about cleansing and do several long 42-49 day juice fasts on my own while healing from an eating disorder. I have also done the 'Arise and Shine' cleanse. Of those, this is the 'softest' feeling cleanse I have done. I am still breast-feeding my 18 month old and have a week of travel after I leave here, so I wanted something gentle, nurturing and warming. This was perfect, the herbs you use feel good in the body whereas some other cleansing herbs I have had in the past made me feel jumpy. I appreciated the overall grounding effect that this cleanse had on my daily practice. I haven't been doing much yoga lately , so I missed a few days due to lightheadedness. but I think anyone with a regular yoga practice could easily keep it up during this cleanse. THANK YOU!
