Those who have previously practiced Yoga as well as Flamenco might have experienced how these two disciplines are not only incredibly complementary, but to some extent also very similar. Focusing on each practice individually, we will be able to feel in the dance the residue of the meditative stillness and breathing movement of Yoga, and in Yoga the residue of the inspired state and contemplative gaze of Flamenco.
Restorative Yoga, through long held, prop supported postures, teaches that even though a pose appears to be still, there is a subtler action going on that involves a
symphony of breath and body that brings the entire being into a state of deep repose and release. Yoga therapy is using the right pose for that unique person with purpose. It is a process of discovering what works for you as the student and teacher. Combined with intention and clear direction, you can learn to skillfully recognize a studentâs needs by drawing on your own experience and awareness to whatâs happening while itâs happening.
The intensive is suitable for anyone with at least one yearâs consistent yoga experience up to teacher level. Each day will consist of two sessions with an additional 3-4 evening restorative and yoga nidra sessions.
We all work hard and need something to look forward to at the end of the year â We deserve a break and a chance to unplug. This January, leave your work cube, put the out-of-office message on and get off the grid â Itâs time to get on your yoga mat and head to Thailand.
Pack your bags and hit the reset button in Koh Samui. Two daily yoga classes (a vigorous, powerful morning practice facing the beach, and a more restorative evening yoga class) will keep us energized and balanced throughout the week. We will have time to explore Koh Samuiâs uniques offerings â wildlife adventures, snorkeling trips, island excursions, and much more keeping our days filled with yoga, fun and rest. There will also be opportunities to recharge the body, meditate by the pool and soak up some healthy Vitamin D at the beach outside our villa. This is our time to rest and reflect after a year of hard work, set our intentions and reconnect to the soul.
Jan 27 â Feb 7, 2016 Yin/Insight Yoga Teacher Training (100 Yoga Alliance Hours) with Sarah Powers
This course is intended to deepen oneâs understanding of the experiential, philosophical and practical application of yoga and meditation. It is intended for those with at least 2 years of practice or more, and is an essential part of a larger, 500 Yoga Alliance hours training in Insight Yoga.
This intensive will deepen oneâs ability to teach both a receptive Yin style and an active flow or Yang style of yoga with an interest in promoting a conducive inner environment for meditation. Please come with a basic understanding of the practices, and a strong interest in committing to the further exploration of both yoga and meditation.
An immersion implies sinking entirely into a new or different environment to the one we are accustomed to. This yoga immersion should not only enable you to disconnect from daily preoccupations, but also to deepen your knowledge of yoga. It will therefore be sustained and complete.
