Yoga: The Joy of Practice
September 15 - 22, 2012
with Elonne Stockton
About the Retreat
In this retreat, we will develop our self-practice of yoga asana and breathwork - pranayama. At the same time, we will explore where the practice of yoga comes from, what the different elements of the practice are and why we practice yoga to begin with.
All levels are welcome. This is an opportunity to be in yoga, to live it, to immerse ourselves in the practice of yoga. It is a chance to be in a healthy and uplifting setting with like-minded people, learning about the practice while building something solid that we can take with us to enrich our lives. Get in it, and develop a love and appreciation for the practice. The joy is ours to celebrate; it is already in us.
Throughout the week, we will have morning breathwork - pranayama, intention setting, chanting and asana practice (led asana and self practice classes), afternoon discussions and restorative asana classes, and of course lots of bhakti/devotion! Some mornings there will be additional silent walks or walking meditations, and some evenings we will have optional kirtan, satsang and other activities.

About the Teacher
Elonne has been a committed yoga practitioner and devotee since the early age of 14. She has lived and taught in the Bahamas, Canada, India, the United States, and Taiwan where she has taught asana, pranayama, and meditation at yoga studios, ashrams, resorts, schools, orphanages, hospitals, and clinics.
In 2006, Elonne moved to Asia, where she met her teachers, Paul Dallaghan, O.P. Tiwari, and Richard Freeman.
As Elonne's understanding of the practice grows, she feels more and more like a beginner, and she is excited to continue this journey. I've just completed my first 7 day detox and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I feel like I'm about to leave my cocoon now, but looking forward to applying what I've learned into my daily life to improve my overall wellbeing. The Yoga was great and the Mysore style of teaching has been challenging and a real learning curve. The program is comprehensive and allows you enough time to relax and enjoy your time in between Yoga, juices, meals and treatments. The massages are incredible, the staff are most helpful and genuinely want to assist you in any way they can. Samahita is a very relaxed environment, and I can highly recommend it to anyone looking to detox or retreat to a peaceful Kho Samui beach setting. I'm leaving with alot more energy than when I first arrived and more clarity than before. A big thank you to all the staff!

I went into this detox with specific objectives, to gain both physical and mental clarity. These were achieved to my expectations through great professionalism, supportive therapists and great program facilities. I have come away with a stronger yoga practice, the knowledge on keeping my body cleansed and mental clarity on keeping myself present. Thank you guys for a wonderful experience and all your support.

Samahita Yoga Thailand is an extraordinary place where you are taken care of. I was on a ten day detox and received so much care, support and advice from a team of people who genuinely wanted to help. Everything about SYT is authentic, the staff, who become your friends, the cleanliness of your room, which becomes your home and the wonderful communual areas, where you can relax in comfortable tropical surroundings listening to the waves on the beach. The treatments available are first class, and the Yoga does more than stretch your hamstrings. But if you want to discover how beautiful this place really is, and how it can help you in ways you never imagined, I suggest you book now, I promise you will not regret it. Do something wonderful for yourself.
