About the Retreat
In this retreat, we will develop our self-practice of yoga asana and breathwork - pranayama. At the same time, we will explore where the practice of yoga comes from, what the different elements of the practice are and why we practice yoga to begin with.
All levels are welcome. This is an opportunity to be in yoga, to live it, to immerse ourselves in the practice of yoga. It is a chance to be in a healthy and uplifting setting with like-minded people, learning about the practice while building something solid that we can take with us to enrich our lives. Get in it, and develop a love and appreciation for the practice. The joy is ours to celebrate; it is already in us.
Throughout the week, we will have morning breathwork - pranayama, intention setting, chanting and asana practice (led asana and self practice classes), afternoon discussions and restorative asana classes, and of course lots of bhakti/devotion! Some mornings there will be additional silent walks or walking meditations, and some evenings we will have optional kirtan, satsang and other activities.

About the Teacher
Elonne has been a committed yoga practitioner and devotee since the early age of 14. She has lived and taught in the Bahamas, Canada, India, the United States, and Taiwan where she has taught asana, pranayama, and meditation at yoga studios, ashrams, resorts, schools, orphanages, hospitals, and clinics.
In 2006, Elonne moved to Asia, where she met her teachers, Paul Dallaghan, O.P. Tiwari, and Richard Freeman.
As Elonne's understanding of the practice grows, she feels more and more like a beginner, and she is excited to continue this journey. She feels blessed by the opportunity to teach at Samahita Retreat, and she is extremely grateful for the chance to help others while she continues her own studies. For more see her full bio.

I learned a lot from Wellness Director. This retreat has really made me sit up and think about how I lead my life; diet, stress management and living a more healthy and balanced life. The great thing is I now realize how I can change things and have every intention of doing so when I go home. So thank you Samahita for opening my eyes and bringing this welcome change into my life!

I must have visited your center in 2002, anyway, the date matters little. It
changed my life. I had never done yoga before. I was a bit depressed and
talking with you guys and learning the basics of Ashtanga really helped me
to displine my mind to see the brighter side of things. The most important
thing you gave me is A TOOL to get rid of dark ideas. Whenever I feel
morose, I begin to do the routine you taught me. I admit, I stopped doing
yoga everyday BUT I now do daily physical exercises. I stopped smoking too.
In fact, the greatest gift you gave me is that I am capable with breathing
exercises and Ashtanga yoga to find my "calm waters" when the boat rocks too
I'm not sure if my text make sense but I just wanted you to know that even after one retreat you can change people's life.
I use to be a teacher in Bangkok and now I work with Inuit children in Nunavik, Canada. Next year, we are moving to Whitehorse, Yukon, I hope that in this somewhat bigger town, I will find a yoga instructor (hopefully Ashtanga!) so I can practice more regularly, not just when things are heavy.

This is a note to say how much I continue to enjoy the benefits of your patient, thorough instruction and
wonderful friendly approach to yoga. I have since been keeping up with classes in D.C. and N.Y. as much as possible.
While the lack of consistency in teaching and approach to postures has at times frustrated my progress,
I always find fulfillment when I remember that "pinch" you taught us, or the time that I did the squat
or headstand in your class, and have remained continually motivated in my pursuit of the practice.
