Yoga: The Joy of Practice
September 15 - 22, 2012
with Elonne Stockton
About the Retreat
In this retreat, we will develop our self-practice of yoga asana and breathwork - pranayama. At the same time, we will explore where the practice of yoga comes from, what the different elements of the practice are and why we practice yoga to begin with.
All levels are welcome. This is an opportunity to be in yoga, to live it, to immerse ourselves in the practice of yoga. It is a chance to be in a healthy and uplifting setting with like-minded people, learning about the practice while building something solid that we can take with us to enrich our lives. Get in it, and develop a love and appreciation for the practice. The joy is ours to celebrate; it is already in us.
Throughout the week, we will have morning breathwork - pranayama, intention setting, chanting and asana practice (led asana and self practice classes), afternoon discussions and restorative asana classes, and of course lots of bhakti/devotion! Some mornings there will be additional silent walks or walking meditations, and some evenings we will have optional kirtan, satsang and other activities.

About the Teacher
Elonne has been a committed yoga practitioner and devotee since the early age of 14. She has lived and taught in the Bahamas, Canada, India, the United States, and Taiwan where she has taught asana, pranayama, and meditation at yoga studios, ashrams, resorts, schools, orphanages, hospitals, and clinics.
In 2006, Elonne moved to Asia, where she met her teachers, Paul Dallaghan, O.P. Tiwari, and Richard Freeman.
As Elonne's understanding of the practice grows, she feels more and more like a beginner, and she is excited to continue this journey. She feels blessed by the opportunity to teach at Samahita Retreat, and she is extremely grateful for the chance to help others while she continues her own studies. For more see her full bio.

Samahita Retreat is real gem! I feel so grateful having been able to spend a week detoxing in this beautiful yet peaceful environment. Everything was just perfect, starting with a very complete and informative Detox Information Pack, great support from the nutritionists and the other detoxers, and then a totally manageable detox program. I thought the yoga teachers were really good and inspiring. They made me look at Ashtanga yoga and all the asana in a different way- paying attention to small details that make a huge difference in one’s practice. It was a fantastic experience. I will go home feeling light, feeling grounded and balanced! And with a new perspective on life! Thank you!
Paul, I want to thank you again for being the first to introduce me to the practice, in a way that was
incredibly inspiring and motivating. Not everyone has the ability to teach well, and I want to compliment you
on your obvious gift to share your passion with others.
Thanks for the encouragement - it really helps.
