Yoga: The Joy of Practice
September 15 - 22, 2012
with Elonne Stockton
About the Retreat
In this retreat, we will develop our self-practice of yoga asana and breathwork - pranayama. At the same time, we will explore where the practice of yoga comes from, what the different elements of the practice are and why we practice yoga to begin with.
All levels are welcome. This is an opportunity to be in yoga, to live it, to immerse ourselves in the practice of yoga. It is a chance to be in a healthy and uplifting setting with like-minded people, learning about the practice while building something solid that we can take with us to enrich our lives. Get in it, and develop a love and appreciation for the practice. The joy is ours to celebrate; it is already in us.
Throughout the week, we will have morning breathwork - pranayama, intention setting, chanting and asana practice (led asana and self practice classes), afternoon discussions and restorative asana classes, and of course lots of bhakti/devotion! Some mornings there will be additional silent walks or walking meditations, and some evenings we will have optional kirtan, satsang and other activities.
Please join us!
About the Teacher
Elonne has been a committed yoga practitioner and devotee since the early age of 14. She has lived and taught in the Bahamas, Canada, India, the United States, and Taiwan where she has taught asana, pranayama, and meditation at yoga studios, ashrams, resorts, schools, orphanages, hospitals, and clinics.
In 2006, Elonne moved to Asia, where she met her teachers, Paul Dallaghan, O.P. Tiwari, and Richard Freeman.
As Elonne's understanding of the practice grows, she feels more and more like a beginner, and she is excited to continue this journey. She feels blessed by the opportunity to teach at Samahita Retreat, and she is extremely grateful for the chance to help others while she continues her own studies. For more see her full bio.

I think Samahita is really one of a kind. You're able to detox and recharge yourself in such lovely surroundings. The food is always fresh and delicious, catering to vegans and vegetarians, with very little fish. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I will be happy to return for a 3rd time!
Thank you so much for your warm hospitality and help & support to our family
during our stay in March. It was great escape to a beautiful place as well
as a healing time for myself.
My son faced a true nature there, dining with birds, sleeping with nice
breeze, walking in the calm beach and listening the sound of wave all the
time. And he has grown so much over there, I think it's all about being in
such a peaceful/clean place. All your staffs were fantastic, I had no issue
with making baby's food. They gave me a great confidence that we can go back
My yoga practice, particularly Asana practice, I started to set up a time and managed to make it in daily bases! What an amazing change! I'm so glad that I can do this again. Also the end of practice, I feel so much better and lighter, something I've been longing for. All great.
Many thanks to all of you and so much looking forward to going back soon.
Special thanks to Paul and Jutima!

Paul and all the teachers are not only knowledgable but are also very giving, I learned so much. Food was really yummy. General Manager is a nice guy, he knows his stuff. Truly appreciate everything.

Amazing. Chef is so great and makes the best healthy food...

Having fasted several times before in Thailand, I expected it to be much more difficult. However at Samahita, it was supported via the Wellness advisors and a view to changing long term eating patterns rather than a quick fix, which is not sustainable. As a fan of Ashtanga yoga, the daily yoga led classes were the highlight of my day. Plus, given my love of the yoga, it meant I wasn’t anxiously weighing myself every day, hoping to see the numbers going down. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I have lost nearly 4 kg, which I’m very happy with. I hope to return soon.
