Yoga: The Joy of Practice
September 15 - 22, 2012
with Elonne Stockton
About the Retreat
In this retreat, we will develop our self-practice of yoga asana and breathwork - pranayama. At the same time, we will explore where the practice of yoga comes from, what the different elements of the practice are and why we practice yoga to begin with.
All levels are welcome. This is an opportunity to be in yoga, to live it, to immerse ourselves in the practice of yoga. It is a chance to be in a healthy and uplifting setting with like-minded people, learning about the practice while building something solid that we can take with us to enrich our lives. Get in it, and develop a love and appreciation for the practice. The joy is ours to celebrate; it is already in us.
Throughout the week, we will have morning breathwork - pranayama, intention setting, chanting and asana practice (led asana and self practice classes), afternoon discussions and restorative asana classes, and of course lots of bhakti/devotion! Some mornings there will be additional silent walks or walking meditations, and some evenings we will have optional kirtan, satsang and other activities.
Please join us!
About the Teacher
Elonne has been a committed yoga practitioner and devotee since the early age of 14. She has lived and taught in the Bahamas, Canada, India, the United States, and Taiwan where she has taught asana, pranayama, and meditation at yoga studios, ashrams, resorts, schools, orphanages, hospitals, and clinics.
In 2006, Elonne moved to Asia, where she met her teachers, Paul Dallaghan, O.P. Tiwari, and Richard Freeman.
As Elonne's understanding of the practice grows, she feels more and more like a beginner, and she is excited to continue this journey. She feels blessed by the opportunity to teach at Samahita Retreat, and she is extremely grateful for the chance to help others while she continues her own studies. For more see her full bio.

It was one of my greatest holidays! Travelling as a single person I did not feel alone at any time because of the great people at Yoga Thailand. I will come back for sure!

As a person in 3-week cancer remission I found the 3 day detox program extremely healing. The atmosphere and environment of Yoga Thailand, along with the quality of care and staff are all beneficial in my healing. Thank you Yoga Thailand.

I feel squeaky clean and transparent after the 7 day detox-super light and full of energy
P.S. Hats off to all the ladies at reception-Tan and Mew, and the other therapists who have their hands full with people on the detoxes asking for stuff all the time and always keeping a smile on their faces even when the centre is busy and buzzing.

I decided to do a 7 day detox program after 4 months of traveling and a 2 year stint working in a developing country - needless to say I did not have a healthy diet for the past 2 years. This was the first detox program I have ever done so I didn't know what to expect. The staff were absolutely wonderful and professional, I felt 100% supported the entire time. I came away from the detox with a new perspective and felt that the program gave me a kick-start in the right direction. THANK YOU THE WELLNESS DIRECTOR AND THE WELLNESS CENTRE STAFF!!!
