Yoga: The Joy of Practice
September 15 - 22, 2012
with Elonne Stockton
About the Retreat
In this retreat, we will develop our self-practice of yoga asana and breathwork - pranayama. At the same time, we will explore where the practice of yoga comes from, what the different elements of the practice are and why we practice yoga to begin with.
All levels are welcome. This is an opportunity to be in yoga, to live it, to immerse ourselves in the practice of yoga. It is a chance to be in a healthy and uplifting setting with like-minded people, learning about the practice while building something solid that we can take with us to enrich our lives. Get in it, and develop a love and appreciation for the practice. The joy is ours to celebrate; it is already in us.
Throughout the week, we will have morning breathwork - pranayama, intention setting, chanting and asana practice (led asana and self practice classes), afternoon discussions and restorative asana classes, and of course lots of bhakti/devotion! Some mornings there will be additional silent walks or walking meditations, and some evenings we will have optional kirtan, satsang and other activities.
Please join us!
About the Teacher
Elonne has been a committed yoga practitioner and devotee since the early age of 14. She has lived and taught in the Bahamas, Canada, India, the United States, and Taiwan where she has taught asana, pranayama, and meditation at yoga studios, ashrams, resorts, schools, orphanages, hospitals, and clinics.
In 2006, Elonne moved to Asia, where she met her teachers, Paul Dallaghan, O.P. Tiwari, and Richard Freeman.
As Elonne's understanding of the practice grows, she feels more and more like a beginner, and she is excited to continue this journey. She feels blessed by the opportunity to teach at Samahita Retreat, and she is extremely grateful for the chance to help others while she continues her own studies. For more see her full bio.

The Wellness Director is an excellent teacher. She always had time for questions and was very inspirational. I really enjoyed the cooking class and the tratak session. Samahita Retreat is such a beautiful place, very professional, all staff very friendly.

I am sorry to say that I arrived back at my desk yesterday and am day
dreaming of Thailand. Thank you very much for accommodating me. I had
a fabulous time and it must be said that the standard of teaching was
nothing less than excellent.
Sorry that I did not have an opportunity to say goodbye before I hurriedly left.
I will endeavour to put your advice into practise and to work on the dreaded hip opener postures. I will, no doubt, see you again (and that's a threat!).
The Wellness Director is fantastic-very helpful and knowledgeable. Huge Applause!
An excellent detox program that is informative, supportive and really promotes overall wellbeing and health. Thank you!

The Wellness Director was very knowledgeable about all topics of the retreat. She was very approachable, always enthusiastic each day. I felt like I was detoxing in good hands in a safe environment. She cared about everyone's wellbeing. If you want a safe and friendly environment for your first detox, Samahita Retreat is the best place for it. And you get to learn and practice yoga while you're doing it.
