Yoga: The Joy of Practice

September 15 - 22, 2012

with Elonne Stockton

About the Retreat

In this retreat, we will develop our self-practice of yoga asana and breathwork - pranayama. At the same time, we will explore where the practice of yoga comes from, what the different elements of the practice are and why we practice yoga to begin with.

All levels are welcome. This is an opportunity to be in yoga, to live it, to immerse ourselves in the practice of yoga. It is a chance to be in a healthy and uplifting setting with like-minded people, learning about the practice while building something solid that we can take with us to enrich our lives. Get in it, and develop a love and appreciation for the practice. The joy is ours to celebrate; it is already in us.

Throughout the week, we will have morning breathwork - pranayama, intention setting, chanting and asana practice (led asana and self practice classes), afternoon discussions and restorative asana classes, and of course lots of bhakti/devotion! Some mornings there will be additional silent walks or walking meditations, and some evenings we will have optional kirtan, satsang and other activities.

Please join us!

Testimonials

I had such an amazing and inspiring experience there last Fall during the week long retreat I can't stop thinking about it and the opportunity to study there for an entire month.
Casey, Boulder, US 2006

An interesting experience that will affect my eating habits in the future.
Franziska, Switzerland 2013

I came to the retreat in dire need of a holiday that was restful. Not one for lying on the beach for extended periods I found the balance of yoga, information and gentle atmosphere combined to create the perfect scenario to be by myself. The general atmosphere was relaxed friendship. A holiday I will savou forever. I will certainly return.

Support was really great, the wellness staff were always caring for me and always lovely, helping to keep me on track with my detox program. I loved the Chi Nei Tsang abdominal massage and colonic hydrotherapy sessions. Afterwards I always felt clear, light and clean. After these treatments, I could sit upright in my pranayama sessions whereas my posture was always slumped before. Continued staff support after the program for the rest of my stay was very helpful. Thank you so much,
Susi, Austria 2009

Despite being on the Faster's Detox Program I never felt hungry. Samahita Wellness kept us well nourished and feeling healthy, fit as a fiddle with fantastic juices, therapies and yoga sessions. I am truly motivated to make positive changes in my life after this trip. I will definitely aim to make this a regular trip. ,
