Yoga: The Joy of Practice
September 15 - 22, 2012
with Elonne Stockton
About the Retreat
In this retreat, we will develop our self-practice of yoga asana and breathwork - pranayama. At the same time, we will explore where the practice of yoga comes from, what the different elements of the practice are and why we practice yoga to begin with.
All levels are welcome. This is an opportunity to be in yoga, to live it, to immerse ourselves in the practice of yoga. It is a chance to be in a healthy and uplifting setting with like-minded people, learning about the practice while building something solid that we can take with us to enrich our lives. Get in it, and develop a love and appreciation for the practice. The joy is ours to celebrate; it is already in us.
Throughout the week, we will have morning breathwork - pranayama, intention setting, chanting and asana practice (led asana and self practice classes), afternoon discussions and restorative asana classes, and of course lots of bhakti/devotion! Some mornings there will be additional silent walks or walking meditations, and some evenings we will have optional kirtan, satsang and other activities.

About the Teacher
Elonne has been a committed yoga practitioner and devotee since the early age of 14. She has lived and taught in the Bahamas, Canada, India, the United States, and Taiwan where she has taught asana, pranayama, and meditation at yoga studios, ashrams, resorts, schools, orphanages, hospitals, and clinics.
In 2006, Elonne moved to Asia, where she met her teachers, Paul Dallaghan, O.P. Tiwari, and Richard Freeman.
As Elonne's understanding of the practice grows, she feels more and more like a beginner, and she is excited to continue this journey. She feels blessed by the opportunity to teach at Samahita Retreat, and she is extremely grateful for the chance to help others while she continues her own studies. For more see her full bio.

I can truly recommend Samahita Retreat. They are professionals who know exactly what to do and are able to tailor the detox program to your needs. With the combination of yoga, this retreat exceeded all my expectations.
Thank you Wellness Director , it really was a great experience. Really from the heart, a BIG thank you.

Many thanks to you and Jutima for your hospitality at your new place. It is absolutely brilliant; the best yoga centre I have ever been in for everything: the place, the food, the people, the atmosphere, the architecture, and most of all the quality of the yoga. Not only have you maintained the great feeling of the old place, you have gone way beyond it. It was such a privilege to be able to contribute to the opening.

The Wellness Director is a great teacher. Always calm, very knowledgeable and always there for questions. I would do the detox again. It is greatly organized with high quality teaching and products. It helps definitely to get deeper in touch with body and mind.

I went into this detox with specific objectives, to gain both physical and mental clarity. These were achieved to my expectations through great professionalism, supportive therapists and great program facilities. I have come away with a stronger yoga practice, the knowledge on keeping my body cleansed and mental clarity on keeping myself present. Thank you guys for a wonderful experience and all your support.
