Yoga: The Joy of Practice
September 15 - 22, 2012
with Elonne Stockton
About the Retreat
In this retreat, we will develop our self-practice of yoga asana and breathwork - pranayama. At the same time, we will explore where the practice of yoga comes from, what the different elements of the practice are and why we practice yoga to begin with.
All levels are welcome. This is an opportunity to be in yoga, to live it, to immerse ourselves in the practice of yoga. It is a chance to be in a healthy and uplifting setting with like-minded people, learning about the practice while building something solid that we can take with us to enrich our lives. Get in it, and develop a love and appreciation for the practice. The joy is ours to celebrate; it is already in us.
Throughout the week, we will have morning breathwork - pranayama, intention setting, chanting and asana practice (led asana and self practice classes), afternoon discussions and restorative asana classes, and of course lots of bhakti/devotion! Some mornings there will be additional silent walks or walking meditations, and some evenings we will have optional kirtan, satsang and other activities.

About the Teacher
Elonne has been a committed yoga practitioner and devotee since the early age of 14. She has lived and taught in the Bahamas, Canada, India, the United States, and Taiwan where she has taught asana, pranayama, and meditation at yoga studios, ashrams, resorts, schools, orphanages, hospitals, and clinics.
In 2006, Elonne moved to Asia, where she met her teachers, Paul Dallaghan, O.P. Tiwari, and Richard Freeman.
As Elonne's understanding of the practice grows, she feels more and more like a beginner, and she is excited to continue this journey. Samahita is the perfect place to work hard at your yoga with patient and exacting teachers whilst relaxing, being very far away from normal life, gaining perspective and getting healthy. Detox is a great addition to any stay here to truly take charge of your health.

I would like to thank everybody at Yoga Thailand for making my recent 10- day detox a resounding success. As this was my first 'detox ' I was mildly apprehensive about doing a long 10 day program but the support given throughout made it most enjoyable with all of the treatments being both relevant and of the highest standard. The combination of detoxifing ayurvedic herbs worked well with the simple foods that eased us into the juice fast proper. At no point did I feel any hunger pangs or discomfort and this in itself was a pleasant surprise. The time passed quickly, as we were kept quite busy with saunas, massages, colonics and steams all of which were explained and conducted with great professionalism and charm. All at Yoga Thailand Wellness should congratulate themselves on putting together a very polished and complete package.

This was an excellent holiday- I relaxed, read a lot of books, had free wifi, and lied by the beach and pool. I did loads of yoga and didn’t feel tired. I even ate and drank well, though I was detoxing. The food was well planned and I was never hungry! (I’m small.) Thank you.
