Yoga: The Joy of Practice
September 15 - 22, 2012
with Elonne Stockton
About the Retreat
In this retreat, we will develop our self-practice of yoga asana and breathwork - pranayama. At the same time, we will explore where the practice of yoga comes from, what the different elements of the practice are and why we practice yoga to begin with.
All levels are welcome. This is an opportunity to be in yoga, to live it, to immerse ourselves in the practice of yoga. It is a chance to be in a healthy and uplifting setting with like-minded people, learning about the practice while building something solid that we can take with us to enrich our lives. Get in it, and develop a love and appreciation for the practice. The joy is ours to celebrate; it is already in us.
Throughout the week, we will have morning breathwork - pranayama, intention setting, chanting and asana practice (led asana and self practice classes), afternoon discussions and restorative asana classes, and of course lots of bhakti/devotion! Some mornings there will be additional silent walks or walking meditations, and some evenings we will have optional kirtan, satsang and other activities.
Please join us!
About the Teacher
Elonne has been a committed yoga practitioner and devotee since the early age of 14. She has lived and taught in the Bahamas, Canada, India, the United States, and Taiwan where she has taught asana, pranayama, and meditation at yoga studios, ashrams, resorts, schools, orphanages, hospitals, and clinics.
In 2006, Elonne moved to Asia, where she met her teachers, Paul Dallaghan, O.P. Tiwari, and Richard Freeman.
As Elonne's understanding of the practice grows, she feels more and more like a beginner, and she is excited to continue this journey. She feels blessed by the opportunity to teach at Samahita Retreat, and she is extremely grateful for the chance to help others while she continues her own studies. For more see her full bio.

Sincere thanks to the Samahita Wellness Team at Yoga Thailand. In the 7 days of my detox program, Wellness Director and her team did everything to make my life endurable. A detox program is never an easy go, it is hard work with yourself to handle different types of upcoming cravings. Therefore the environment and the team around you which are giving you support are so important. Special thanks to Sarah, you are such an incredible and sweet nurse, you made my colon experience very tolerable. I also want to thank the Therapist Team - Dee, Than and Gung. Your healing hands helped me very much to go through this time of cleansing. And of course many thanks to Wellness Director , your sun shining appearance and professional attitude made every step of the program very clear to me.
Though it was not easy going, I really enjoyed this time of fasting and I would like to advise all of you to take your time and explore yourself in a detox program. You will feel lighter, cleaner and will have much more energy. DANKE!

After escaping a very stressful and toxic work situation, this retreat was exactly what the doctor ordered. The Wellness Director is an inspiration and I feel back on the road to recovering my equilibrium.

The fasters detox proved to be a well thought out program, practically ensuring my goals were achieved. However, the combination of the wonderful staff at Samahita Yoga Thailand, and the detox program is genius. I have nothing but praise about my 45 day stay here at Samahita Yoga Thailand :-)

The Wellness Director is a great and insightful teacher, very helpful and kind. Samahita is a very relaxed and clam retreat destination; authentic yoga classes with a knowledgeable teacher and very peaceful if you want to come and rest your mind.

I didn't get a chance to say thank you for our amazing month at Yoga Thailand. I learned so much, both about yoga and myself. The pranayama is relatively new to me, but so helpful and strengthening - I already feel and difference and will continue my practice on and off the ship.
Thanks again for your time and help. Safe travels!
