Yoga: The Joy of Practice
September 15 - 22, 2012
with Elonne Stockton
About the Retreat
In this retreat, we will develop our self-practice of yoga asana and breathwork - pranayama. At the same time, we will explore where the practice of yoga comes from, what the different elements of the practice are and why we practice yoga to begin with.
All levels are welcome. This is an opportunity to be in yoga, to live it, to immerse ourselves in the practice of yoga. It is a chance to be in a healthy and uplifting setting with like-minded people, learning about the practice while building something solid that we can take with us to enrich our lives. Get in it, and develop a love and appreciation for the practice. The joy is ours to celebrate; it is already in us.
Throughout the week, we will have morning breathwork - pranayama, intention setting, chanting and asana practice (led asana and self practice classes), afternoon discussions and restorative asana classes, and of course lots of bhakti/devotion! Some mornings there will be additional silent walks or walking meditations, and some evenings we will have optional kirtan, satsang and other activities.

About the Teacher
Elonne has been a committed yoga practitioner and devotee since the early age of 14. She has lived and taught in the Bahamas, Canada, India, the United States, and Taiwan where she has taught asana, pranayama, and meditation at yoga studios, ashrams, resorts, schools, orphanages, hospitals, and clinics.
In 2006, Elonne moved to Asia, where she met her teachers, Paul Dallaghan, O.P. Tiwari, and Richard Freeman.
As Elonne's understanding of the practice grows, she feels more and more like a beginner, and she is excited to continue this journey. She feels blessed by the opportunity to teach at Samahita Retreat, and she is extremely grateful for the chance to help others while she continues her own studies. For more see her full bio.

I didn't know what to expect when entering the Candida detox program at Samahita retreat and days before my arrival I was terrified how it would go (detoxes are never fun). But the staff kindness and helpfulness as well as approachability really helped. In the end after 5 days, I feel much better than on day one and two. I hope it only goes up from here... Thank you to Samahita for this full body experience. I would definitely consider coming back. Best, Angela

I came to the retreat in dire need of a holiday that was restful. Not one for lying on the beach for extended periods I found the balance of yoga, information and gentle atmosphere combined to create the perfect scenario to be by myself. The general atmosphere was relaxed friendship. A holiday I will savou forever. I will certainly return.

I came to Yoga Thailand to cleanse and strengthen my body, which I feel I have achieved in a greatly shorter time than I ever could have on my own. Combining yoga with detoxing has worked very well for me, as I am improving both my body and mind on a variety of levels. I feel I have achieved a new start for my body, health and lifestyle and I am confident in making healthy choices in the future with ease. Thank you kindly.

Had a glorious time on your retreat in Thailand and will never forget the experience. I have actually
increased my practise now, since I've been back in London, to five times a week!

Samahita Retreat is very professionally run. The services and therapies are superb. The Wellness Director is a warm and open person. Her instructions were always very clear. She has made the entire detox experience enjoyable.
