Yoga: The Joy of Practice

September 15 - 22, 2012

with Elonne Stockton

About the Retreat

In this retreat, we will develop our self-practice of yoga asana and breathwork - pranayama. At the same time, we will explore where the practice of yoga comes from, what the different elements of the practice are and why we practice yoga to begin with.

All levels are welcome. This is an opportunity to be in yoga, to live it, to immerse ourselves in the practice of yoga. It is a chance to be in a healthy and uplifting setting with like-minded people, learning about the practice while building something solid that we can take with us to enrich our lives. Get in it, and develop a love and appreciation for the practice. The joy is ours to celebrate; it is already in us.

Throughout the week, we will have morning breathwork - pranayama, intention setting, chanting and asana practice (led asana and self practice classes), afternoon discussions and restorative asana classes, and of course lots of bhakti/devotion! Some mornings there will be additional silent walks or walking meditations, and some evenings we will have optional kirtan, satsang and other activities.

Please join us!

Testimonials

It has been nearly two months since Cookie and I came to your institution to study yoga, although this is was the first time we had studied any yoga we were made to feel extremely welcome and had an amazing time. Its not often in life that one week or one place can change a person in so many positive ways, but this is the effect that Samahita Yoga Thailand has had on us.

Our time at Samahita Yoga Thailand has shaped in so many ways, especially with your wonderful food that we have tried (with varying levels of success) to recreate at home.

Thank you so much for helping us discover such a wonderful and invigorating lifestyle. I would like to wish you every success with your new centre and are already very excited about returning to study with you soon.

Namaste,
Love Mark and Cookie, 2008

It was my first time to travel to a new place for more than five days by myself. I didn't know anything about detox. I hardly eat vegetables and fruits. The vegetables and fruit juices are not so bad, tasty. The Wellness staff are so nice. Tracy and Summer are lovely and they take care of us so well. I like all the programs from the breath work in the morning to the meditation session in the evening. I chose three kinds of massages and they were awesome. When I went home, my family was surprised to see my face. There were no pimples and no rash like before. Now I eat fruit and salad everyday and so does my family. We really like our new habit. The program brings me confidence, in meeting new people and communicating in English, which is not my first language. This is a nice place with nice people. I love it.

I just wanted to thank the Samahita Yoga Thailand staff for making our 5 days with you memorable and very enriching. I am typing this as I am eating chapatti that we made out of your cookbook! Lana and Lorraine thank you so much for your inspiration. I feel more focused on my yoga. Lambeau and Poom thank you so much for taking care of my children so that I could practice yoga. They haven't stopped talking about you since we returned from Koh Samui. Thank you also for introduing a new diet to me. I have never felt so healthy as the 5 days that I spent eating your lovely food and practicing yoga!

We hope to see you all in the near future!
Sincerely,
Kim Dallas, Chengdu, China 2008
